Lipedema Pump Group

Lipedema Pump Group is for patients and therapists interested in using intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) or advanced pneumatic compression pumps as part of lipedema care.

Group members will have the opportunity to help develop a Lipedema Pump Therapy Best Practice Guide for medical professionals (as part of a LEG project) and potentially a consumer guide. Group members may receive questionnaires or interview invitations from the LEG project team or be invited to review draft documents.

Issues to be considered include who will benefit from using a pump, who should not use a pump (contra-indications), pump usage in daily care, pump usage after lipedema surgery (post-operative care), appropriate pump device selection, pump garment selection, adding materials under a pump garment, how often, how long, what pump settings, activities during pump usage, obtaining insurance coverage, etc. We are interested in hearing about patient's experiences with pumps, both positive and negative, in order to help our community and understand why some women find pumps beneficial and others do not.
